To launch its range of nail colours, Christian Louboutin has called on architect Tarek Shamma to create a magical all-white cityscape with intriguing details.

From its signature-red soled shoes, Christian Louboutin has made the foray into the world of cosmetics with the launch of its Rouge Louboutin nail colour in the same iconic red. The bottles are elegant too – shaped in prismatic crystal with a pointed cap that looks uncannily like the designer’s iconic 8-inch heel.
To icing to the cake is the window display that they have put together for Saks Fifth Avenue in the United States, with pop-up display versions now being shown in Hong Kong (the second pop-up can currently be found at Lane Crawford, Canton Road).
The fruit of Christian Louboutin’s fertile mind and executed by architect Tarek Shamma, the display is an enchanting city called “Loubiville”, a fantasy metropolis complete with swirling streetscapes and soaring towers.
Upon closer inspection, one discovers that Loubiville’s intricate white structures are composed of various iterations of the Rouge Louboutin bottle itself. The city also slowly transitions from an all-white landscape into colour over time, as new beauty lines are revealed. And hidden within its balustrades, arches and passageways are subtle hints of upcoming launches.
The pièces de résistance of these extraordinary windows comes to life through analog design and digital effects, completing the Rouge Louboutin story: the animation of a surrealist machine, a multi-dimensional structure funneling the essence of the Ballerina Ultima shoe, giving birth to Louboutin’s Rouge colour through smoke, conveyor belts, and cogwheels.
