December 19th, 2013
Christmas comes early for the lucky winners of our Hong Kong Indesign: The Event pre-registration prizes – and they are certainly no ordinary gifts!
THE PRIZE (top image):
A 2 nights stay for 2 at DEDON ISLAND in the Philippines – valued at HKD $21,950 (air fare is not included).
WINNER:
Victoria Noble
About the prize:
DEDON ISLAND is located on the southeastern tip of the reef-ringed Siargao island in the Philippine Archipelago.
More than just a resort, this getaway is DEDON’s ‘Outdoor Living Lab’ to bring their dreams of barefoot luxury to life. Every experiment DEDON carries out here, from groundbreaking design to organic local farming, leads them that much closer to achieving their vision of a truly sustainable paradise.
The resort is created in collaboration with Jean-Marie Massaud and Daniel Pouzet. It is built using only local materials and local craftsmanship, and traditional architectural styles are embraced alongside the finest modern amenities.
DEDON ISLAND is designed to bring visitors back in touch with themselves. No money is used here, and no cheques signed – food, drink, massages and a vast array of activities and services are available to visitors, when and as they desire.
THE PRIZE:
One dining set from DEDON comprising 2 x Play Chalk Chair Upholstered (in Satin Taupe), 2 x Play Chalk Chair Upholstered (in Satin White), and 1 x Satellite Dining Table – valued at HKD $30,800
WINNER:
Agata Nowicka
About the prize:
The PLAY chair
Designed by Philippe Starck, PLAY offers the user the opportunity to ‘play’ with a choice of chair colours and materials to create a truly individual piece of furniture. The materials used – moulded polypropylene and DEDON’s world-renowned hand-woven synthetic fibre – brilliantly combine high-tech with artisanal know-how.
The Satellite Dining Table
Elegantly simple, streamlined and modern, the SATELLITE dining table bears the distinctive hallmarks of its designer, Jean-Marie Massaud. With the tabletop in scratch-resistant, moisture-resistant HPL (high-pressure laminate), and the base in an innovative, frost-proof ceramic, the collection is beautiful as it is practical and durable.
THE PRIZE:
One of two CH24 Wishbone Chairs from Carl Hansen & Søn – valued at approximately HKD $6,766.40 each.
WINNERS:
Reno Lam
Annemarie Leung
About the prize:
The Wishbone Chair is perhaps Wegner’s most celebrated work. A light, attractive and comfortable dining chair with the characteristic Y-shaped back, the chair is a triumph of craftsmanship with a simple design and clean lines. Despite the chair’s straightforward appearance it takes more than 100 steps to make one. Amongst other things, the hand-woven seat consists of more than 120 metres of paper cord. Hans J. Wegner designed the Wishbone chair for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1949 and it has been in continuous production since 1950.
THE PRIZE:
A special edition Chassis Chair from Wilkhahn upholstered in Woven Image fabric – valued at HKD $3,000
WINNERS:
Pamela Hinton
Eric Hui
Yvonne Chow
Alice Chow
About the prize:
A collaboration between German designer Stefan Diaz and Wilkhahn, the multipurpose Chassis doesn’t simply suggest the elegance of sports cars – it’s made like them too.
The award-winning Chassis is the first chair in the world to be made with the help of state-of-the-art automotive technology.
Lucid, but still organic, contoured but lightweight, technically precise, but still natural, Chassis is ideal for use in studios, the dining room, meeting spaces, cafeterias and canteens, and work benches at home and at work.
Prize collection details – All winners will be notified via email by Indesign and the respective sponsor.
