With less than two months until Hong Kong Indesign: The Event, our carefully selected Design Precincts are gearing up to bring you the best in design. From Central to Wan Chai, you’re sure to be inspired by creative project installations and product launches all on show for the most highly anticipated event in the region.
October 14th, 2013
Not only are our two chosen precincts the major design and architecture districts in Hong Kong, but they are also regarded as the leading places to visit when in town. With a plethora of restaurants, shopping strips and boutique retailers on show, these two areas are like magnets to the curious traveler.
WAN CHAI
Wan Chai neighbours the Central district and is situated on the northern-shore of Hong Kong Island. The area has become increasingly popular among up-and-coming designers who wish to showcase their talent out of boutique street-level showrooms, with new and unique outlets opening each week.
In particular, Wan Chai’s Star Street precinct is a popular flocking ground for designers and creatives due to the mix of large-scale showrooms and boutique retailers. Also drawing in the crowds are a cluster of upmarket international delis, cafes, wine bars and eateries.
While the Wan Chai district is one of the largest on Hong Kong Island, Indesign have pin-pointed the major areas to visit as part of Hong Kong Indesign: The Event and have devised a reliable transportation route to ensure seamless visitation on the day.
CENTRAL
Located on the Western side of Hong Kong Island, Central is regarded as the ‘central business district’. That said, several small suburbs make up Central as a whole and Indesign have sourced the very best design showrooms to be part of the festivities.
Pound the pavement through Central and you’ll notice a collection of design stores all within close proximity to one another. Starting at iconic Wyndham Street, you’ll find a select group of premium home furnishing brands and interior specialists. And just a stone’s throw away, Hollywood Road connects you to some of Hong Kong’s leading art galleries and design boutiques.
Most of Central can be accessed by foot, however a regular transport system will be in place for the Indesign Event.
Also, don’t forget to check out our satellite event locations at North Point and Quarry Bay. More details on this coming up very soon.
