As a young girl, Fiona Gall was drawn to elaborate Victoriana, botanical pen and ink drawings, magical storybook illustrations, and curios squirreled from jumble and car boot sales. Today, under her design company, Emerald Faerie, the lighting designer has transposed these passions for art, illustration and found objects into magical and one-of-a-kind, yet practical creations crafted from raw materials.

Exclusively for Lane Crawford, Gall has created a range of light fixtures stemming from the theme of “Botanica” – these are made from recycled resources alongside other archival pieces from her past collections.

“When Lane Crawford asked me to be involved in this project, I packed up my most suitable works along with enough mesh, crystals, chains and glass tubing to create additional work on-site and boarded a plane to Hong Kong,” says Gall.

And with a rare invitation from Lane Crawford to go through their warehouse for material, Gall was in her element. “I’ve had the most wonderful time creating new and unusual pieces with my findings, I can’t wait until it’s all finished and everything is available to buy. I’m really enjoying myself. It’s not every day that you get asked to sculpt your own fairy tale.”
