When completed around 2015, d’Leedon will cut a striking presence along Farrer Road in Singapore in the form of 7 organically-shaped towers.

The CapitaLand-led development in Singapore’s prime area of District 10 is also Zaha Hadid’s first foray into large-scale residential projects – amazing when one considers the long list of awards and recognition linked to her name, and her boundary-pushing works!

In addition, d’Leedon will be the largest single condominium project of its kind in the country with 1,703 apartments and 12 semi-detached houses – built on an expansive 840,049 square feet site.

“This project has presented an opportunity to continue exploring the architectural language of fluidity,” says Hadid. “The design for the project was generated by detailed studies of the site’s location, topography and surroundings.”

The Pritzker Architecture Prize winner’s vision consists of 150-metre-high apartment blocks that appear to ’grow’ from sunken private gardens.

The lower floors of the 36-storey towers will taper inwards, thus creating a dramatic silhouette and maximising open areas for private gardens. Each tower’s floor plan will take on a shape of a flower that is subdivided into ’petals’, according to the number of units per floor.

“These organic design principles are evident in all 7 towers, generating a diversity between each building yet giving d’Leedon the natural elegance of coherence,” Hadid explains.

The residences will occupy a mere 22 percent of the site, which will free up a vast landscaped area of over 650,000 square feet to recreational facilities and lush greenery.

The site will be divided into 5 distinct landscape bands inspired by the components found in mountain ecosystems – rock, forest, water, foothills and meadow.
