China Airlines 777-300ER boasts a spanking new interior inspired by the Song Dynasty.

Taiwan’s flag carrier, China Airlines, is betting big on luxury travel with its new Boeing 777-300ER fleet, complete with cabin interiors designed by award-winning Taiwanese designer Ray Chen.
Taking inspiration from the Song Dynasty, the cabin interiors place emphasis on eastern beauty, elegance and simplicity. In an industry first, the interiors also feature a wood grain design and mood lighting.
While the Song Dynasty is the main design inspiration, the airline is not short on modern creature comforts. Premium Business Class passengers will get to enjoy full-flat, generous 78-inch seats that are comparable to the ones to be found in First Class. The new Premium Economy Class features an expanded 39-inch legroom and a fixed backshell design, ensuring that passengers who recline their seats won’t cause discomfort to travellers seated behind them. Economy Class seatbacks are thinner and can recline almost to 120 degrees, offering passengers more legroom and comfort. In addition, a family of three can experience Asia’s first Family Couch simply by raising their footrests, which would then convert their seats into a single sofa bed.
Notably, the Sky Lounge located in the middle of the Business Class zone features what appears to be a well-crafted ‘bookshelf’, and is a place where guests can gather to enjoy a variety of tea, coffee and pastries.
The well thought out design extends to the uniforms, which have been conceived by Oscar-nominated costume design William Cheung; Song Dynasty inspired utensils by Chen Chun-Liang, a shortlist for the Tang Prize (also known as the Asian Nobel Prize); in-flight items reflecting Taiwanese culture by Wang Jung-Wei and Su Yao-Chang; and exquisite in-flight amenities by Viola Chen, a winner of Italy’s 11th Grandesign Etico International Awards.
