Beauty of the Terrain

Woven Image has released a pair of all new coverings that channel the natural landscapes into striking designer finishes.

Go into any trendy cafe today and chances are you’ll see some variation on the recycled or flax finish aesthetic. Incredibly popular and perfect for contemporary hospitality projects, the recycled look is fast becoming the cafe design trend of 2017. It’s with this trend in aesthetics in mind that Woven Image has released Terrain, their all-new wall-covering material which hits the market alongside its screen-printed sibling Orbit.

This natural, organic looking covering recalls the aesthetics of the earth, but maintains a sensible and contemporary designer edge. Made from equal parts flax and polypropylene Terrain is supplied to market as a flat, semi ridged panel 2.5mm thick, in dimensions of 2800mm high by 1210mm wide to allow for ease of wall application installation.

Terrain comes in two neutral colours, beige and charcoal, and features a cream flax colour flecked throughout the base, creating a beautiful natural speckle, in a very on point ‘recycled’ style look – a feature increasingly popular in contemporary finishes. To co-ordinate with this plain texture is printed partner finish Orbit – a screen-printed option. Orbit is printed onto the beige base using waterbased, custom coloured pigment inks.

The design features a 3mm thick keyline of a circle, 10cm in diameter. The single colour large-scale motif is repeated side by side across the panel in a straight repeat creating a sophisticated pattern inspired by traditional wall hangings. Orbit is available in three matte colourways, trend driven blossom pink, and neutrals dark grey and white.

Both Terrain and Orbit have low a volatile organic compound emission rate, notably below the limit for both the Green Building Council of Australia and Green Tag. For architects and designers, this means they can help contribute towards a green building rating scheme in the planning process.
