Living Office has been conceived by Herman Miller to offer individuals and organisations a strategy to respond to the new landscape of work – one where people and their passion come first.

It seeks to address the wants and needs that are fundamental to all humans, whilst remaining adaptive to the unique purpose, character and activities of individuals and organisations. The ultimate goal? To inspire and enable a more natural and desirable workplace, fostering greater connection, creativity, productivity, and prosperity for all.

At Singapore Indesign, Herman Miller will be presenting these powerful ideas and tools as well as new physical examples of the Living Office.

Public

Public by Yves Behar has been designed to transform the office – including individual desks – into collaborative spaces. The office system supports casual work and provides comfort at the desk, in circulation spaces, and in group areas—all whilst ensuring a consistent design vocabulary. Visually uniform and modular surfaces, storage, and seating can be configured into a broad range of settings that encourage fluid transitions between collaborative and focused work.

At the heart of the Public system is the Social Chair, which brings a new level of ergonomics and functionality to soft seating, thanks to its ability to accommodate a range of people and postures as they work. The chair promotes the purposeful interactions that drive work—at the desk, in group areas, and throughout the entire office.

Kivo®

Designed by Alexander Lorenz, Kivo® is an impactful screening device that effectively serves as a boundary of landmark – an important quality of a Living Office. It comes with easily removable tiles that allow users to create their own bespoke aesthetic.

“Kivo® is made of less than five components but because it is based on a unique algorithmic formula, the permutations are as infinite as the designer’s own imagination. We believe the hackable and sculptural character of Kivo® will resonate strongly with leading creatives in Asia-Pacific. We have engaged Singaporean sculptor Chong Fah Cheong to use Kivo® to create a sculptural and impactful piece that acts as a landmark for Herman Miller at this year’s Singapore Indesign event. We hope this will act as inspiration to designers to explore what Kivo® can do to bring their vision to life,” says Samantha Giam, Director of Marketing for Herman Miller Asia Pacific.

Herman Miller provides design services with specially developed parametric software algorithms to plan and visualise customised Kivo® solutions. The felt covers are available in a wide range of colours and textures. Herman Miller also offers additional customisation options for clients who want to have their own bespoke choices.

Check out Herman Miller’s Living Office and Kivo during Singapore Indesign at XTRA. Designer Alexander Lorenz will be present to share the design journey behind Kivo® at 11am – 12pm, and 2 – 3pm. Also, participate in the Kivo® sketch challenge and stand a chance to win Herman Miller prizes.
