This year’s Hong Kong Indesign was all about connecting with cool brands in friendly settings: their own showrooms. Wilkhahn, Clestra, The Madison Group and colourliving all opened their doors to visitors on 19 and 20 November, offering guests a warm welcome with drinks, food and lots of brand insights.

At colourliving at 333 Lockhart Road, visitors got to see everything from designer kitchens and bathrooms to furniture and state-of-the-art technology for interiors. The Republic of Fritz Hansen’s 7 Stars x Fritz Hansen Series 7™ was a highlight at the showroom, with Hong Kong designers such as Joyce Wang rethinking the famous Series 7 chair in fun and original ways.

The showroom also played host to the LiveLife: Urban Living – Rethinking our City Design Conversation on Friday 20 November, which saw panelists debating issues and solutions for Hong Kong’s public spaces.

Also at 333 Lockhart Road is Wilkhahn, whose stunning showroom was designed by Hong Kong Indesign’s founding sponsor, PDM International. During Hong Kong Indesign, visitors not only got to see the showroom for themselves, but they also had an opportunity to peek behind the scenes, with the office furniture and conference furnishings brand’s craftsmen making Wilkhahn products on site. Also on display was the innovative, new IN chair, featuring Trimension mechanisms.

In addition, Wilkhahn hosted a design talk on Friday 20 November, as well as welcoming guests for an open-house party from 5.30pm.

Just nearby at The Hennessy building, partitions expert Clestra launched its pioneering, multimedia conferencing solution, Mediawall. Visitors experienced Mediawall for themselves at Clestra’s offices, playing games on its vast, interactive screen and testing out the plug-and-play device’s considerable array of functions.

Clestra was also the place to go for those interested in exploring emerging design: the French brand hosted the Launch Pad Asia 2015 exhibition, with works by the competition’s finalists on show. The winners of Launch Pad Asia 2015 were announced at Clestra on Friday 20 November.

On Queen’s Road East, guests at The Madison Group’s event space, House of Madison, were treated to pineapple margaritas by The Woods at Thursday 19 November’s PlayLife Design Conversation. The conversation saw panelists discuss hospitality design, looking at industry developments, the influence of technology and the customised experience, with an audience of some 70 people.

House of Madison was also open to visitors all afternoon on 19 and 20 November, showcasing sleek and stylish new offerings from The Madison Group’s premium lifestyle brands Rimadesio, bulthaup, Sub-Zero and Wolf.
